Mangetsu was distinguished by a calm and reserved disposition, was much more modest and balanced than his younger brother Suigetsu. He did not flaunt his achievements, although he was one of the strongest swordsmen of Kiri. He pursued his goal with cold determination, carrying out the most brutal missions without complaint. Despite his fearsome reputation, he maintained composure and rarely gave in to emotions. He treated Suigetsu with care, and it was his example that inspired his brother to follow the same path. He was not a stranger to ambition, but it was expressed in persistent training, not in boasting. His comrades in the Seven respected him not only for his skill, but also for his even temper. Even Kisame, who was not inclined to praise, acknowledged his superiority. In battle, he acted calculatingly and ruthlessly, preferring quick and silent elimination of targets. His will was strong enough to subdue all seven swords, including the unruly Samehada. His short life did not allow him to fully realize his potential, but the legacy he left spoke for itself. Mangetsu's death was a severe blow to Suigetsu, depriving him of his former motivation.
