Hidden Mist Village, also known as Kirigakure, is one of the five great hidden villages in the Land of Water. Located on an archipelago of numerous islands surrounded by constant dense fog, this village has long been renowned for its brutal traditions and harsh ninja.

The village's geographical location makes it naturally protected from external threats—the sea and fog conceal its shores from outsiders' eyes. Kirigakure's architecture features numerous bridges, canals, and stilt houses adapted to the humid maritime climate and frequent fogs.

The village's history is marked by a period known as the "Era of the Bloody Mist," when Academy ninja graduates fought to the death against each other. These brutal traditions, established by the Fourth Mizukage, made Kirigakure synonymous with brutality and bloodshed. However, over time, under the leadership of the Fifth Mizukage Mei Terumi, the village abandoned its bloody customs and strives for peaceful coexistence with other villages.

Hidden Mist Village is famed for its masters of Water Style techniques and mist illusions. Local ninja often specialize in covert operations, sabotage, and techniques utilizing water and the humidity of the environment. Among the village's famous shinobi are the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, wielding legendary blades capable of changing shape and possessing unique abilities.

At the helm of the village stands a leader bearing the title Mizukage—Shadow of Water. Despite its difficult past, modern Kirigakure seeks to strengthen ties with other hidden villages and secure a worthy place in the political life of the five great nations.
