The Land of Water is one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, located on a cluster of islands in the ocean, each with its own characteristics, including cultural ones. Its name reflects its geographical feature: the territory is almost entirely surrounded by water, and numerous small islands are connected by a system of sea routes and bridges.
The hidden shinobi village of the Land of Water is Kirigakure (Hidden Mist Village), also known as the Village Hidden in the Mist. This village is famous for its strict traditions of ninja training and unique combat techniques based on water and mist manipulation. Kirigakure long remained isolated from the rest of the world, which contributed to the formation of a distinct culture and military doctrine.
The country’s climate is humid and cool, with frequent rains and morning fog enveloping the coast and mountainous areas. In some regions, snow and severe frosts are common. The local fauna includes various aquatic creatures, some of which are used as summoning beasts, although, of course, most are used for food. The economy is based on fishing, trade in marine products, and the production of specific goods unavailable in continental countries.
Geographical isolation made the Land of Water difficult to access for external invasions, but also limited its political influence on continental affairs. Modern Kirigakure seeks a more open policy, participating in the Five Villages’ international summits and developing diplomatic relations with other powers.
