• Hatred. For centuries the beast was used as a weapon, and it came to hate humans, responding with fury to every attempt to subdue it.

The burden of the Nine-Tails was carried by three, all from the Uzumaki clan, whose bodies and seals were especially suited for this.

• **Uzumaki Mito**, the first. Wife of the First Hokage Hashirama, she was the first to seal Kurama within herself and held him for her entire life.
