Shikigami Dance is Konan's primary ninjutsu, in which she transforms her own body and clothing into many sheets of paper. Upon activation, her body breaks apart into hundreds of sheets, which confuses the opponent. Konan then freely controls these sheets, giving them the desired shape and rigidity: she creates sharp spears for attack, origami butterflies for surveillance, as well as paper clones for support. On her back she can form wings that allow her to fly or quickly release a series of paper projectiles. If necessary, Konan wraps a target in paper, depriving them of mobility and cutting off their breathing.
Konan's paper remains ordinary paper in its properties: fire burns it, and oil causes the sheets to stick together, making the dance useless. Rain also interferes with control, so in rainy Amegakure, Pain sometimes stops the precipitation so that Konan can act freely.
