Conan is a restrained and enigmatic figure whose character was shaped by war and loss. Outwardly she is extremely calm, almost detached, preferring cold calculation to emotional outbursts. This restraint is not an innate trait but a protective mechanism that crystallized after Yahiko’s death and the transformation of the organization into an instrument of pain.
Deep down, Conan remains faithful to the ideals of her childhood — a world without suffering, for which she, Yahiko, and Nagato devoted so much effort. Her loyalty to her friends is absolute and selfless; she is willing to make any sacrifice for their memory and teachings, even if it requires her to become someone she never wanted to be. After Yahiko’s death she adopted his dream as her own, becoming an "angel" supporting Nagato, while internally retaining skepticism toward the method chosen by her former comrade.
In battle, Conan demonstrates cold determination and intellectual cruelty. She plans one step ahead, using paper techniques not only for attack but also for psychological pressure on the opponent. Yet she never loses her sense of self-respect and respect for the adversary — her strength does not require mockery or excessive cruelty.
Despite her association with Akatsuki, Conan is not devoid of humanity and capacity for compassion. By the age of thirty-five she had gained wisdom allowing her to see the person behind the enemy, and behind ideology — a distorted attempt to understand the world through pain. After Nagato’s death her character finds peace: she renounces hatred, choosing the path of creation over destruction. In the finale of her journey Conan appears as a tragic yet whole personality — a woman who managed to preserve the light within herself despite all the surrounding darkness.
