Black Receivers are rods that serve as transmitters of high-frequency chakra signals. They are characteristic of Rinnegan wielders, who generate them from their own body, most often from their palms. Formed from chakra, the receivers are hard, like metal, and strong enough to break steel tools, but can be destroyed by a sufficiently powerful blow. When transmitting chakra, the rods heat up noticeably.
By stabbing a receiver into an opponent, the user sends their chakra into the opponent's body, disrupting its flow and hindering movement. Several rods completely immobilize the victim, and a strike to a tenketsu blocks the ability to mold chakra. At close range, it is even possible to control the target's movements, although a powerful chakra allows one to resist this. The receivers serve as the foundation for the Six Paths of Pain: implanted into corpses, they grant full control over the bodies and provide a shared field of vision through the reflection of the Rinnegan in the puppets' eyes. Nagato covered his body with many receiver piercings, while Obito limited himself to one hidden rod in each of his puppets' chests. Summoned creatures of the Animal Path also carry implanted receivers. If necessary, the rods can be used as thrown weapons or blades, and Obito even rained down giant spikes from the Kamui dimension. By piercing an opponent with a receiver, one can materialize chakra chains that bind with even greater force. Upon the creator's death, all black receivers turn to dust.
