Chibaku Tensei is a technique of the Deva Path of the Rinnegan. The user creates a black sphere between their palms and launches it into the sky. After activation, the sphere begins to attract everything around it until a giant celestial body forms. The size of the object is controlled by the user, but creating it requires a great deal of chakra. Nagato, using the technique through the Six Paths of Pain, was forced to bring the Deva Path closer to his body in order to transmit chakra more effectively while in an exhausted state.
Most often, Chibaku Tensei is used to hold targets: the debris drags the victim in and buries them beneath it. When the technique is used to capture tailed beasts, the resulting objects are called "Tailed Beast Sealing Stones." Breaking free from such a prison is almost impossible — only Naruto Uzumaki, having entered a state close to Tailed Beast Mode, managed to free himself. Therefore, the best way to counter Chibaku Tensei is to destroy the black sphere at the very start, before it accumulates mass. This requires the most powerful attacks, such as the Tailed Beast Bomb or Rasenshuriken. Aiming specifically at the sphere is not necessary, because all attacks are drawn to it on their own.
Sasuke Uchiha performs the technique differently: he does not create a black sphere, but gathers debris directly around immobilized targets, which resembles Six Paths — Chibaku Tensei. Sasuke can move the formed celestial bodies at a distance. Madara Uchiha creates several of these at once, each with its own black sphere, and uses them not for capture, but as enormous projectiles, bringing them down upon his opponents.
In Sasuke's case, instead of using black spheres that become objects of attraction, the user apparently selects the same Tailed Beasts for that role, making them the objects of attraction.
