The Village Hidden in the Sand (Sunagakure no Sato — "Hidden Sand Village") — one of the Five Great Ninja Villages, located in the Land of Wind on desert territory.

The village represents an impressive architectural structure erected among endless sandy expanses. Its streets run between buildings constructed in a style reminiscent of eastern fortresses with their massive walls and specific infrastructure. The main pride and symbol of Sunagakure's protection is a monumental stone wall with a unique design, rising above the desert and symbolizing the village's might.

The climate of the Land of Wind is extremely harsh — a dry continental desert climate with extremely limited fresh water supplies and arable land. These harsh conditions historically shaped village life, forcing its inhabitants to adapt to constant resource scarcity. Unlike other Great Villages, Sunagakure does not possess extensive territory with diverse flora and fauna, which compelled ninja to develop unique techniques based on utilizing available natural elements — primarily sand.

The village's economy traditionally relied on two main sources: extraction and trade of rare minerals and metal, as well as fulfilling orders for ninja services from other countries. However, constant economic strain and dependence on food and water imports made Sunagakure politically vulnerable, which repeatedly led to conflicts with neighboring states and internal crises.

The governance system of the Hidden Sand Village revolves around the figure of the Kazekage — the village leader and its strongest ninja. Historically, this title was held by five shinobi, each of whom made a significant contribution to the village's development and protection. A special role in modern Sunagakure history was played by the Fifth Kazekage Gaara, who transformed from a dangerous weapon into a wise leader who contributed to establishing peace and cooperation with other villages.

Sunagakure shinobi are renowned for their unique sand manipulation techniques (several), as well as puppet mastery. These techniques enable creating powerful barriers, attacking opponents with sand waves, and using sand for reconnaissance and protecting allies. Among the most notable techniques are Sabaku Kyō (Sand Funeral Chamber) and various forms of Sabaku no Shima-re (Sand Funeral Sacrifice). The most talented shinobi can even weaponize sand, creating powerful constructs.

The village's internal structure includes traditional ninja organizations: the Academy, where young shinobi are trained; the Anbu division for carrying out secret missions; intelligence and military units. An important element of Sunagakure's culture is respect for strength and skill, as well as readiness to sacrifice oneself for the village's defense — values that run throughout its entire history.

After the unification of all Five Great Villages into an alliance, Sunagakure took an important place in the new system of international relations, actively participating in joint missions and maintaining diplomatic ties with former rivals. This transformation was reflected in the village's internal life: the economic situation improved, trade relations were established, and the young generation of shinobi is raised in the spirit of peace and mutual understanding, rather than constant readiness for war.
