Iwagakure (Hidden Stone) is a hidden village of the Land of Earth, one of the five great shinobi villages of the world. It is located amidst rocky mountain ranges, which serve as a natural fortress and pride of its residents. The entire village infrastructure is built from local stone: tower-like buildings are connected by a network of bridges. The residence of the Tsuchikage is the tallest structure with a conical roof, on which the kanji for "Earth" is inscribed.
The attire of Iwagakure shinobi consists of a red outfit (with one or two sleeves), a brown flak jacket, and is often supplemented with mesh armor on the ankles. Many villagers specialize in Earth Release techniques. The village is famed for its iron discipline: having received an order from the Tsuchikage, shinobi carry it out without hesitation, even at the cost of their lives.
