Kurenai Yuhi was a caring and brave kunoichi who sincerely worried about her students and took an active part in their development. She paid special attention to Hinata Hyuga, knowing how harshly her own father treated her, and supported her in her desire to change. Kurenai had a firm, honest, and straightforward character, which combined with almost maternal warmth towards her charges. She was often described as an "older sister": she could both comfort and insist on her own if duty required. Next to Asuma Sarutobi, her severity softened, and she sometimes became embarrassed when their relationship became noticeable to others. Kakashi more than once teased them, and Kurenai awkwardly made excuses. When Asuma left for the battle with Akatsuki, she outwardly held up, but inside she felt strong anxiety, and the news of his death plunged her into deep grief. Despite the loss, she found the strength to live on for the sake of their unborn child, whom Asuma asked Shikamaru to protect. Raising her daughter Mirai alone, Kurenai remained a strict and demanding mother, but at the same time raised her to be cheerful and responsible.
