In Version 2 state, Utakata loses a significant part of self-control, resembling a wild beast driven by Saiken's instincts. His usual restraint and elegance disappear — in their place appears blind rage and the desire to destroy the source of threat. He is capable of acting quickly and lethally. However, initially he does not seek to use this power — he gave himself a vow not to rely on the bijuu, knowing what chaos it can cause. But in a desperate situation, when Hotaru's life or his own is at stake, he nonetheless summons Saiken's chakra. Interestingly, even in this semi-beastly form he retains a fragment of consciousness: he is able to ask Saiken to perform a specific task (e.g., suppress an explosion), and the beast obeys without resistance, not attempting to fully seize his mind. Nevertheless, in the battle against the Six Paths of Pain his control proved insufficient, and he acted mostly on reflexes.
