Utakata is a calm, reserved, and elegant young man who prefers solitude. He is man of few words, but beneath his outward indifference lies a deep inner pain connected to the betrayal by his own master. He categorically refuses to take on the role of a teacher and flies into a rage when someone calls him 'master' or tries to impose an apprenticeship on him. Utakata is honest and noble: he always strives to repay his debts, even if it means risking his life. He does not trust people who use others as tools, and he despises those who force forbidden techniques on subordinates for their own gain. Utakata is free of greed — he does not seek power or wealth. At the same time, he is sufficiently mature and responsible: he consciously decided not to rely on the power of his bijū, knowing what chaos its release could cause. Interestingly, he has fairly trusting relations with Saiken himself — he can ask the beast to lend him power, and it obeys without resistance, without seizing his consciousness. Utakata also possesses a well-developed sense and is able to notice changes in others' chakra.
