Mei is a cheerful and good-natured woman who tries to avoid conflicts and solve problems peacefully. She is significantly more open and tolerant than many of her Kage colleagues: at the summit, she was the first to show respect to Gaara, defended him against the mocking remarks of the Third Tsuchikage, and did not hesitate to express her opinion. At the same time, she possesses a sharp mind and is able to assess situations quickly, which helped her with political intrigues.
Mei approaches the topics of marriage and age very sensitively. Any hint that she is "no longer young" or that it is time for her to marry triggers an outburst of rage in her — sometimes she is even ready to resort to violence, as in the case with Ao when he accidentally touched on this topic. She likes to flirt with attractive men, but when it comes to battle, her charm gives way to deadly determination.
As a leader, she is deeply devoted to her village and strives to eradicate the legacy of the "Bloody Mist." She is proud that Kirigakure has finally embarked on the path of reforms and is ready to defend this new course at any cost. Despite her outward gentleness, she shows iron will in battle and does not back down even before the strongest opponents like Madara.
