Son Goku spoke of Roshi as a person just as stubborn and thick-headed as the Third Tsuchikage Onoki. Although Roshi had carried the Four-Tails within him for over forty years, he had never once addressed the beast by its true name, believing that he had not yet softened his heart enough for such familiarity. However, observing Naruto's battle against Tobi and the Six Paths of Pain, as well as knowing about the last meeting of the tailed beasts with the Sage of Six Paths, compelled him with regret to acknowledge: if all jinchūriki were like this youth, they could have chosen the right path. Before Son Goku was resealed into the Demonic Statue, Roshi finally confessed to the beast that he had never forgotten its true name, and with a smile asked permission to call it simply 'Son'. In that moment, a belated but sincere peace came between the old warrior and the giant ape.
