Zabuza is a cynical and embittered assassin whose personality was shaped by the cruelty of the "Blood Mist." He is convinced that the world is divided only into those who use and those who are used, and that shinobi are nothing more than tools. After the failed coup against the Fourth Mizukage, he lost his former charisma and idealism, becoming a mercenary ready to work for any criminal. Nevertheless, he possesses a peculiar code: he despises manipulation, openly tells subordinates about their role as "tools," and does not pretend to be a benefactor. Beneath the external cruelty lies a suppressed attachment to Haku, which he himself does not want to acknowledge. Kakashi notices that in battle, Zabuza instinctively hesitates when he needs to pierce Haku to land a strike — this betrays his true feelings. Only after the boy's death and Naruto's angry speech does he allow himself to shed tears and realize that Haku meant more to him than just a tool. In his final moments, he shows unexpected nobility and humanity, sacrificing himself to take revenge on Gato.
