In his youth, Mifune already displayed unyielding courage and loyalty to duty. When all his comrades fled at the mere sight of Hanzo, he remained standing alone. His main motivation was to protect his fellow soldiers, and for this he was ready to accept a deadly battle with a legendary opponent. He preferred action to fear and did not retreat before overwhelming force. Boasting and posturing were alien to him — he simply could not act otherwise. There was not a shadow of arrogance in him, only the calm resolve of a warrior aware of the possible outcome. Respect for the enemy did not prevent him from fighting at full strength, and even in defeat he maintained his dignity. After the defeat, he listened to Hanzo without hatred, showing that he was capable of acknowledging another's faith and strength. His convictions were built on protecting others and loyalty to his own path.
