In those years, Kisame is already known as a ruthless warrior loyal to the village. He obeys orders from superiors without question, even if they require killing his own comrades. For him, the concepts of duty and keeping secrets stand above personal feelings. At the same time, he feels no pleasure from killing—rather, he perceives it as an inevitable part of service in Kirigakure, where betrayal and cruelty have become the norm.
He rarely shows emotions, remaining restrained and somewhat distant. Even then, one could sense cynicism in him, caused by the dirty work he has to perform. However, he is not devoid of self-respect: having become one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, he takes pride in his position and skill. He treats subordinates professionally, without excessive cruelty but also without sentiment. His loyalty to the village seems absolute, but internally he is already beginning to realize that he lives in a world full of lies.
He maintains working relationships with the other swordsmen, especially Suigetsu and Mangetsu Hozuki, though he has no truly close friends. In battle, he is cold-blooded, calculating, and uses overwhelming physical strength combined with water techniques, leaving the opponent no chance.
