Hidan is an extremely hot-tempered, rude, and disrespectful person. He generously sprinkles curses, rarely uses polite forms of address, and when he does, it is exclusively with sarcasm. He is the only member of the Akatsuki who openly expresses contempt for the organization's leader Pain and does not hide that he is ready to kill him. At the same time, he is a fanatical follower of Jashin — a god whose cult requires believers to commit murders. Hidan sincerely believes that killing is a sacred duty and derives pleasure from it, especially when the victim suffers before death.
Despite his religiosity, Hidan finds some rituals of faith tedious and sometimes uses the name of Jashin as a curse. He prefers to act without strategy, relying on the immortality that makes him fearless. Kakuzu, his partner, constantly reprimands him for recklessness, and Hidan, in turn, despises Kakuzu's greed and his mockery of faith. Nevertheless, when it comes to battle, they fight as a well-coordinated pair, and at the moment when Shikamaru almost forced Hidan to kill his partner, he screamed in panic — which indicates that Kakuzu was not indifferent to him.
Hidan is sadistic and loves to inflict pain. He derives pleasure from shared suffering with the victim during the ritual and is not afraid to inflict wounds on himself. However, if the pain is inflicted by someone else who does not share it with him, he reacts quite normally — he swears and gets angry. He is arrogant due to his immortality, but when necessary, he can analyze the opponent's techniques, as was the case with Shikamaru's shadow technique. At the same time, he himself admits that he is not very smart.
