Daru possesses a light, even sluggish temperament, and expresses his attitude toward most things with his favorite word 'boring'. His slow, drawling manner of speech fully corresponds to the meaning of his own name. However, behind the ostentatious laziness there is no idleness: when needed, he rushes to defend his comrades without a hint of hesitation. He is extremely polite and prone to apologize not only for himself but also for others' misdeeds, sometimes not even noticing this trait in himself. His loyalty to the Fourth Raikage is absolute, and he in his own way calls him 'boss', avoiding flowery addresses. The Raikage repays him in kind, considering him his right hand, and Darui zealously guards the leader's honor both in word and deed. Despite his relaxed appearance, he is an understanding and patient person, ready to justify another Kage's lateness by family duties. In battle, Darui is utterly composed, soberly assesses the enemy's strength and does not shy away from using cunning. He respects worthy opponents, even if he must fight them, and is not prone to empty bravado. His self-irony helps him accept his own weaknesses — for example, the unexpectedly revealed habit of apologizing every minute. Even in a critical situation, he maintains composure, warning his comrades of danger and urging them not to act rashly. In personal interaction he remains simple, free of pomp as a warrior, able to appreciate rest after battle. This balance between outward apathy and inner valor makes him a reliable support for the entire Village Hidden in the Clouds.
