Juzo had retained his reputation as a cruel and merciless warrior, but in the ranks of Akatsuki he also proved himself to be a calm, relaxed, and even sociable person, capable of joking with his comrades. He patiently trained newcomers, explaining to them the internal order of the organization. Juzo was loyal to Akatsuki and unquestioningly obeyed Pain's orders. He approached missions with utmost seriousness: he was cautious, meticulous, and even developed combat formations for better synchronization with his partner. He hated his former village so much that he refused to carry out assignments on the territory of the Land of Water. Juzo was a lonely man who had no one left except his sword—his only faithful ally. He did not utter farewell words to Itachi before his death, thinking only of the blade. Yet he showed sincere concern for his partner: he ordered him to flee when the situation became hopeless, and offered to kill him if he fell into the hands of Kirigakure, promising to do the same for Itachi in case of capture by Konoha.
