Juzo was widely known for his inhuman cruelty — he shed the blood of his enemies without hesitation and painted the fields of battle scarlet. This ruthlessness brought him fear and respect throughout the ninja world. In battle he acted cold-bloodedly and calculatingly, yet at the same time he was patient enough with his comrades in the squad. Juzo valued professionalism and caution, and preferred to plan missions thoroughly. He was proud of his fame and of the fact that his team had become known even to young shinobi of other villages. Despite his outward severity, Juzo was not devoid of self-irony: he was surprised that young ninja from Konoha knew his squad, and admitted that their fame was indeed growing. At that period he still did not feel hatred toward Kirigakure (it manifested later, after the village's betrayal), but his own cruelty had already fully formed his reputation.
