Sealing Technique: Phantom Dragons of the Nine Absorbing Seals - a high-level fūinjutsu designed to extract a tailed beast's chakra from a jinchūriki or the beast itself and seal it into the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path. To perform the technique, Pain summons the Statue, after which each Akatsuki member takes a place on one of its stone fingers, corresponding to their rings. Upon activation, nine dragon-like figures burst from the Statue's mouth, surround the target, and forcibly extract the tailed beast's chakra from it - a process agonizing for the victim. The extracted chakra flows into the statue, and one of its nine eyes opens. The jinchūriki dies after the complete extraction of the bijū. With nine participants, the technique takes three days of continuous concentration; the fewer participants gathered, the longer the sealing takes. The Nine-Tails must be sealed last, otherwise the Statue will be destroyed. The technique was a key tool of Madara Uchiha's Eye of the Moon Plan, however Nagato intended to use it to create a weapon of mass intimidation capable of forcing the warring nations into peace.
