The Preta Path is one of the branches of the Six Paths Technique, available to the wielder of the Rinnegan. It grants the ability to absorb chakra in any form. This branch is mainly used for defense: upon physical contact, the user can draw chakra out of a person, as well as absorb ninjutsu composed of chakra, completely neutralizing its effect. Physical attacks, such as Gaara's sand, the Preta does not absorb, but it is capable of draining the chakra out of it. For this, an invisible barrier is formed around the body, which takes attacks from all sides and absorbs their energy.
Although the Preta can absorb even senjutsu chakra, with excessive absorption there is a risk of turning to stone. A known case is when Nagato used this branch to draw out Killer Bee's chakra in Version 2 form, which allowed him to restore his exhausted body, hair color, and even his legs, but due to the loss of muscle mass he could not use them fully. This ability can be neutralized if the opponent manages to suppress the movements and chakra of the user himself.
