The Size Increase Technique is a hereditary ninjutsu of the Akimichi clan, their distinguishing ability. When activated, the user's body grows, proportionally increasing their weight and physical strength, which makes each blow much more powerful. Clothing and certain weapons, such as the bo staff, also adapt to the new size, allowing one to immediately enter battle. However, such a significant change to the body creates a huge strain on the organism, so the form is rarely held for long: usually a series of powerful attacks is delivered and then one immediately returns to the original state.
The appearance when enlarged can be different. The first option is that the body swells mainly in the torso and becomes unnaturally round. The second option is that the user simply becomes larger, maintaining normal body proportions, but not reaching the size of the Super Size Increase Technique. With experience and age the form changes: in his youth Choji always took on a rounded appearance, and later mastered a more proportionate version. However, in battle both options are interchangeable and are applied depending on the situation.
