Magic Lantern Body Technique is a supplementary ninjutsu used by Nagato for remote communication of Akatsuki members. The participants, being in different locations, concentrate and send mental waves converted into chakra. These signals are caught by Pain, who serves as a kind of transmission tower: the technique amplifies the mental waves and broadcasts them to a designated point, forming there the illusory bodies of the members. The user can freely talk, exchange information, and even perform some techniques while being hundreds of kilometers apart from each other. The illusory body looks like the user themselves, however it is transparent, except for the eyes, and stands motionless with hands folded in a hand seal. The image is subject to interference — it flickers and distorts, as if under the influence of electrical discharges, and the voice sounds altered, with a characteristic electronic echo. This allows Akatsuki to hold secret meetings without leaving their hideouts and remaining unreachable for enemy intelligence.
