Description

Unsuccessful or incomplete version of the classic summoning technique, in which instead of an adult battle toad from Mount Myoboku, its larval form—a tadpole—appears.

Like the full summoning technique, this variation belongs to space-time ninjutsu and requires a contract with the toad clan, as well as the use of five hand seals (boar, bird, dog, monkey, ram). However, the summoning result heavily depends on the amount of chakra invested and the ninja's skill level.

The appearance of a tadpole usually indicates insufficient preparation by the summoner: either their chakra is insufficient to transport an adult creature, or their spiritual bond with the toad clan is still in an early stage of development. Unlike the mighty warriors of Myoboku such as Gamabunta or Gamaken, the tadpole possesses no combat abilities and cannot inflict serious damage on an opponent.

Nevertheless, even such a result has practical value. Summoning a tadpole confirms that the connection with Mount Myoboku has been established and the technique works correctly. For beginning ninja who have just signed the contract, this is an important intermediate stage—evidence that a full summoning will become accessible as their strength grows and their technique improves.
