Yamanaka

Yamanaka clan is one of the oldest families of Konohagakure, whose reputation and unique techniques were well known to Hashirama Senju even since the very founding of the village. Throughout many generations, the history of this clan has been inseparably linked with the Nara and Akimichi families, together with whom they form the legendary combat formation 'Ino-Shika-Cho'. Yamanaka traditionally represent the 'Ino' link in this alliance. This strong alliance is strengthened by old traditions and strict oaths of loyalty. When the heirs of these three families are promoted to the rank of chūnin, a representative of the allied Sarutobi clan presents them with special earrings. This traditional offering to the generation leaders not only strengthens the unity of the clans, but also symbolizes the official recognition of young shinobi as adults in their respective families. Within the village's history, it has historically come to pass that Yamanaka representatives also bear the greatest responsibility for border security, traditionally leading the Konoha barrier team.
