Kabuto is an incredibly complex and contradictory personality, whose true self is hidden behind numerous false masks. By nature he is a deep introvert who prefers to stay in the shadows and avoid excessive attention to his person. Due to a severe head trauma suffered in childhood, he lost his memory and has since suffered from a deep identity crisis, desperately trying to understand who he really is. Years of work as a flawless spy have only exacerbated this internal problem: by constantly changing hidden villages, names, and loyalties, he has completely lost connection with his original essence. To fill this void, he has wholly devoted himself to serving his lord, sharing his philosophy of recreating oneself through the accumulation of knowledge. In communication, the youth is invariably polite, respectful toward interlocutors, and always uses the proper respectful suffixes, expecting the same from others. However, beneath this ideal courtesy lies cold cruelty: he skillfully finds opponents' weak points and likes to morally pressure them, seasoning his words with biting sarcasm. He can be arrogant in assessing others' weaknesses, yet at the same time he is absolutely cold-blooded and confident in his own professional skills. Despite his outward loyalty, his changeable nature sometimes even causes his mentor to doubt the true motives of his assistant. Nevertheless, sometimes echoes of the past awaken in him, and he becomes capable of unexpected displays of kindness or help without any obvious benefit to himself.
