After the Tailed Beasts are extracted from him, Obito lies on the ground, completely drained. His body and mind are broken, but it is at this moment that his true "self" returns — the boy who dreamed of becoming Hokage and believed in his comrades. He no longer calls himself "nobody." He admits that he was wrong and feels the deepest sense of guilt for all his crimes. Obito no longer strives for the Infinite Tsukuyomi; he wants to atone for his guilt. He decides to sacrifice his life to revive the people he killed using the Rinne Rebirth, but Black Zetsu seizes control and forces him to revive Madara. Even after this, Obito does not give up: he steals a portion of the Tailed Beasts' chakra from Madara to save the dying Naruto. In the final battle with Kaguya, Obito acts calmly and purposefully, no longer driven by hatred but only by the desire to protect those who remain. Before his death, he smiles and finds peace, reuniting with Rin in the afterlife. His final act — transferring the power of his Mangekyo Sharingan to Kakashi — shows that he has finally returned to his original path as a shinobi.
