Konohamaru as a child — this is a noisy, headstrong, and very energetic boy who painfully experiences his position as the grandson of the Third Hokage. He cannot stand being called a «precious grandson», because in this address he hears only a condescending attitude toward his status, rather than recognition of his own merits. Due to this, Konohamaru has been obsessed since childhood with the idea of defeating his grandfather and becoming Hokage himself — so he hopes to prove to everyone that he is an individual, not just an appendage to a title. At the same time, he deeply loves Hiruzen, but this love is mixed with teenage rebellion and the desire to escape the shadow of a great ancestor. Konohamaru often takes advantage of the fact that everything is forgiven him due to his origin, and even deliberately provokes those who dare not strike the grandson of the Hokage himself. The encounter with Naruto turns his life upside down: the blond makes no allowances for status, strikes back at impudence, and generally behaves as an equal. This so impresses Konohamaru that he declares Naruto his older brother and main rival. He begins to imitate his idol in everything — from the manner of speaking loudly and adding the particle «kore» to his speech to inventing lewd techniques and wearing Naruto's old glasses instead of a helmet. However, beneath the external silliness lies an amazing ability to learn: Konohamaru quickly grasps Naruto's main lesson — there are no shortcuts to the dream of Hokage, one must work hard persistently. He stops being lazy, seriously studies at the Academy, and even passes on Naruto's teachings to his teacher Ebisu, thereby forcing him to change his opinion of the «Nine-Tailed Demon». Konohamaru is very trusting and sometimes naive: for example, tripping on flat ground, he is ready to believe that Naruto used a secret technique against him. He also loves to boast about his «perverted techniques» and sincerely considers Naruto a great heartbreaker, not noticing that he simply does not dissuade him of this. Despite his young age, Konohamaru is capable of deep attachment and steadfastly endures losses: later he will worthily accept his grandfather's death.
