Orochimaru is a genius whose character was shaped by the early death of his parents and the horrors of the Second Ninja World War. Tsunade calls him 'corrupted' even in childhood. His main goal is to uncover all the secrets of the world and master all techniques, for which he seeks immortality. He despises the fragility of human life and believes only eternity can allow the attainment of true knowledge. In him has developed a god complex: he values only himself and those who serve his goals. He treats his subordinates as expendable material, yet he can show genuine interest in their development if he sees potential. Orochimaru is sadistic, enjoys sowing fear and observing the suffering of others, but he does this not out of simple cruelty, but out of scientific curiosity. He is arrogant and prone to underestimating opponents, which sometimes leads to serious consequences (as in the battle with Itachi or with Hiruzen). At the same time, he possesses a keen mind and strategic thinking. Betrayal is natural for him: he unhesitatingly killed the Fourth Kazekage to manipulate Sunagakure, and left Akatsuki when he realized he could not obtain Itachi's body. His attitude toward Sasuke is a mixture of admiration for his genius and predatory desire to possess his body. Orochimaru is a collector of 'rare specimens': people with unique abilities (Kimimaro, Jugo, Sasuke), whom he accumulates as resources.
