Kaguya Otsutsuki was a being of duality, whose original kindness had been buried beneath the weight of attained divine power and deep disappointment in humanity. In her soul she long held an attachment to this land and even came to love a mortal ruler, though she rarely showed her feelings openly, remaining outwardly dispassionate and detached. The betrayal by those she had trusted burned away her faith in humanity, and in place of quiet concern came a cold conviction that only solitary authority could save the world from self-destruction. Having tasted the forbidden fruit, she became imbued with a sense of her own exclusivity and believed that all chakra rightfully belonged solely to her, while other beings were merely her dispersed property. Her rule quickly descended into despotism, and the peoples who once blessed her as a Goddess began to call her a Demon. To protect herself from the impending retribution of her own clan, she transformed countless humans into an army of White Zetsu, binding them in the chains of eternal sleep. Toward her own sons, Hagoromo and Hamura, she felt a painfully contradictory emotion: she sincerely loved them and protected them, but was ready to subdue them by force and absorb their chakra when they stood in her way. Even centuries later, gazing upon Naruto and Sasuke, in whom she recognized traits of her children, she wept, whispering words of hatred and longing simultaneously. Black Zetsu, the will spawned by her, noted that Kaguya wished to love humanity for the sake of peace, but her distrust of people outweighed it. In battle she maintained majestic composure, but did not disdain tactical tricks and advice from Black Zetsu if they promised victory. Remarkably, she was able to be confused and thrown off balance by Naruto's clumsy seduction technique, which revealed her deep estrangement from ordinary human emotions. Despite everything, her connection to the planet as her precious cradle remained strong within her, and she sincerely did not wish it further harm.
